Here, Boy!

“Tracking Spicer’s broadsides against Politico may require deployment of an Erik Wemple Contractor Blog. As we reported earlier this year, Spicer & Co., with the able assistance of the Washington Examiner, perpetrated a gutter-level slime job against Politico reporter Alex Isenstadt, who at the time was reporting a critical story about the press secretary’s management approach. Prior to assuming his current post, Spicer openly hammered the decade-old political website.”

Every  POTUS till now’s had a pet
Except this one, they say, and yet
When that terrier named Sean
Starts to bark on the lawn,
I’d say he’s the best First Dog yet!

Nordstrom Was Right

“Despite her prestigious new digs, Trump will serve as an informal adviser to her father, without a paycheck or a job description. She has pledged to adhere to ethical regulations, though she’ll receive little oversight from non-relatives. This has irked some Washington insiders, who have called her rapid ascent an extreme example of nepotism.”

As Ivanka Trump kept her White House plans quiet, a coveted West Wing office stayed open for her

Though Ivanka’s not working for pay,
She’s got clearance, and what’s not to say,
If things get too bad
She’ll stand up for her dad,
Instead of the U. S. of A?

Not Hearing Gorsuch

“The senator also grew impatient as Gorsuch recycled responses from earlier in the day that he is completely apolitical as a judge and has no place weighing in on political issues. He repeatedly cut the nominee off while building his case that Gorsuch had strong political opinions and ties to partisans, reading from exchanges with high-level Republicans during the administration of George W. Bush that suggested he was a fiercely loyal Republican foot soldier.”

With his lips tightly pressed in a clench
Neil resisted the Al Franken wrench
“Will your politics sway?”
“Oh, I wouldn’t dare say,
“Just wait till I’m on the Big Bench.”

Tin Hat Time

Trump has now added his voice to the calls for a proper public investigation into Russia’s involvement in the 2016 election. The only way for Congress to properly assess the truth of Trump’s claim about Obama would be to call on Comey and other senior officials to provide a full accounting of the interagency investigation into alleged contacts between Russian officials and Trump associates. Is that really what the White House wants?

Why Trump’s Latest Obama Accusation Could Backfire
John Cassidy, The New Yorker

So Duh Chief says Obama conspired
Way last fall to have Trump Tower wired:
Thus Fake President Trump
Shows himself as a chump
And how much he is in Russia mired.

Presidoesn’t

The president has referred to the media as the “opposition party” to his administration, and he has blamed news organizations for stymieing his agenda. But the language that Mr. Trump deployed on Friday is more typically used by leaders to refer to hostile foreign governments or subversive organizations. It also echoed the language of autocrats who seek to minimize dissent.

Trump Calls the News Media the ‘Enemy of the American People’
New York Times

First he says, “Heed the press? No, we mustn’t!”
Then what he says was clearly wasn’t.
By his penchant to blame
And to wrongly defame
He has earned his new name: Presidoesn’t.
